Cancer Council March Charge update – At the halfway point

If there is one thing I have learnt very quickly with this walking challenge is that when one works in an office and spends a lot of time in front of a computer, you hardly walk at all. In the first week of this challenge I was pretty sore from pushing myself to even make my daily count of a measly 8000 steps which is about 5.5km. This is my minimum daily requirement to stay on track to hit 160km by end of March. Thankfully I have a treadmill at home which is allowed and I can smash out the steps at the end of the night if needed.

Coming to the end of week 2 and I have my routine down. My aim is for 1000 steps an hour and I park as far away as I can when I hit the shops. These 2 very little changes make a huge difference. I have lost a little bit of weight and am feeling really good physically and mentally. The last 12 months I haven’t worked out much or looked after myself too well and this challenge on behalf of the Cancer Council has been very good for me.

As of this morning, Friday the 13th, these are my stats compared to others who signed up for challenge.

  • My financial goal is $500- I have raised $681 and am at Gold level.
  • I am placed 228th out of 14,068 people for reaching fundraising goal
  • I have completed 70km out of 160km and am on target.
  • My fitness ranking is 899th out of 13,835 people who have signed up Australia wide.
